You can take a dog to water…

…but as we discovered, you can’t always persuade it to swim!

Our little mongrel dog Kaiya has never really been a fan of water, despite her part poodle  genetics. In the last few weeks however whilst we’ve been baking in the sunniest May on record, she finally realised that playing the sea can be great fun and an excellent well to keep cool!

Despite her enthusiasm for leaping through the water in pursuit of a tennis ball, she wasn’t quite as confident when it came to swimming, preferring to stick to the shallows where her paws could still feel solid ground.

Never one to miss a photographic opportunity I ended up taking far too many photos of her adventures! Here are some of my favourites:

(Don’t worry she isn’t chasing these mallards, they are just in a hurry to get out of her way!)

No dogs were harmed in the making of these photos, although several tennis balls were lost…
